Some Connecticut residents may be eligible for “Hero Pay” if they worked during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Connecticut Premium Pay Program, or “Hero Pay” is Connecticut’s way of thanking essential workers. Eligible workers can receive up to $1,000 in premium pay.
Am I Eligible?
Workers who are eligible must have earned less than $150,000 annually and were unable to work from home therefore they had to work on-site. Employees also had to be employed in an essential, non-governmental job between March 10, 2020, and May 7, 2022.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) vaccination priority list is being used to define what is considered an essential job. However, other positions may qualify. Healthcare workers, funeral home workers, educators, first responders, grocery stores, and agricultural workers are among those who qualify as essential workers. How Do I Apply?
To apply, employers can visit the Connecticut Essential Worker Covid-19 Relief website. Applications are open until October 1st, 2022, and funds are scheduled to be distributed in early 2023.
